Director
Ridley Scott Delves Into the ALIEN PREQUEL Timeline
Break out the abacus, because Sir Ridley Scott is about to explain the time frame of his upcoming ALIEN prequel.
It’s a brand new box of tricks. We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on ALIEN, but [for example] if ALIEN was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.
Scott revealed this to Empire Online at the London debut of his daughter Jordan’s new film CRACKS.
So, it’s a while ago, but it’s moving to the end of the century, but then we’re going back 30 more years. So, if you put all of that into your computer and carry the one, you come up with the ALIEN prequel taking place somewhere in the middle of who the hell knows.
Despite the confusion, this does answer the question as to whether or not we will be seeing the massive Space Jockey aliens who made an appearance in the first ALIEN. Early speculation was to reveal who these aliens were and how the alien eggs ended up on their craft. From Scott’s description, this sounds like we are going to see a more human-based story play out.
