The apple sure hasn’t fallen far from the tree in the King household. Joe Hill, the 37-year-old son of horror novelist Stephen King, has already optioned his first novel, HEART-SHAPED BOX, for Warner Brothers. Now, Variety is reporting that HORNS, his second novel, has been optioned by Mandalay Pictures for a feature film adaptation.
The story centers on a 26-year-old man who awakens one day to find he has grown horns. The horns begin to grow bigger with each, passing day, and love and vengeance ensue. The novel is set for release from William Morrow in February.
HORNS is the latest in Mandalay’s strategy of seeking out properties to option then developing them inhouse before shopping to the studios.
