Director
Polanski’s ‘The Ghost’ Put on Hold
After Roman Polanski’s arrest in Switzerland, many wondered what would become of his latest film, ‘The Ghost.’ Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, we have our answer. For now. ICM chief Jeff Berg, Polanski’s agent, claims the film’s editing is done, but other, post-production work needs to be completed before the film can see the light of day. Work like music scoring and sound mixing had yet to be done on the film starring Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor.
The film has yet to find distribution in the United States. It has already picked up deals in many overseas markets. Incidentally, ‘The Ghost’ is the first film by Polanski to have a US setting since 1974’s ‘Chinatown.’
Berg claims Polanski generally finishes the film completely before shopping it around for US distribution.
There is always interest in movies that Roman distributes. It should be accepted on its own merits, but we feel highly confident we’ll find proper distribution.
Polanski’s lawyers still claim the director will fight extradition to the United States.
