More Disney Film Surprises…

Besides the  awesome announcement  that Pirates 4 will be called ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ the cool picture  of Johnny Depp  in costume, and  a release date of  Summer 2011, Disney had alot to say at Day 2 of the #D23 Expo!

Disney tweeted  that Andrew Stanton’s  ‘John Carter of Mars’ is coming to theaters Summer 2012, adding that live action and special effects will be used.

More casting news from ‘The Lone Ranger’. Johnny Depp was confirmed to play Tonto and additional cast to be announced soon.

After a long absence, the Muppets are  back again  with ‘The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made.’ It’s a film that’s been in the making since 1985.

And Jerry Bruckheimer was there to talk about ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.’

Robert Zemeckis was there to plug his ‘A Christmas Carol’ movie starring Jim Carrey. Nicholas Cage gave an update on ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.’ He’ll  have a dual role as  producer and star and  we should see it  in the Summer of 2010.  Also mentioned was  a feature-length film version of Tim Burton’s  ‘Frankenweenie’   for a 2011 release.  All of Disney’s announcements can be found on their Twitter page.
