Harrison Ford Talks ‘Indy 5’
The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form.
That was how Harrison Ford put it when he spoke with the French newspaper, Le Figaro.
Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I’ll be very happy to put the costume on again.
It’s not surprising that a fifth ‘Indy’ film is on its way. ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls’ pulled in over $786 million worldwide, and Ford isn’t getting any younger. Of course, there is always the possibility of letting co-star Shia LaBeouf headline the next installment, but that’s just a shark waiting to be jumped.
And, while it may grit fan’s teeth to hear Lucas’ name back in context with the ‘Indiana Jones’ series, you have to seriously wonder how little of ‘Kingdom of Crystal Skulls’ lack of cohesion was his fault. Spielberg has been hit or miss in recent years, at best, and Ford hasn’t made a solid film in 16 years.
Time will tell if ‘Indy 5’ recaptures the magic of the first three films or if it is just another hokey adventure for Papa and Boy Jones to get in. Many fans are hoping and maybe even expecting the former rather than the latter. Regardless, it’s sure to make a mint.
