Director
David Gordon Green’s ‘Suspiria’ Remake “On Track”
It’s found all the way at the bottom of the article, and it’s not even given a whisper of attention, but an article about Tilda Swinton in Variety has revealed David Gordon Green is still on track to do his ‘Suspiria’ remake. The article is about Swinton and her upcoming film, ‘I Am Love.’ The ‘Suspiria’ news comes at the bottom where it speaks on other projects currently being worked on by director Luca Guadagnino’s production company, First Sun. The producer/director says First Sun is “on track” to produce the Gordon Green project.
It was announced all the way back in March of 2008 that Green would be helming the remake, and he confirmed the news on more than a few fronts. It was also rumors a few months later that Natalie Portman would be on board to star in the horror remake. The latter bit of news has never been 100% confirmed.
Green is a great filmmaker, and here’s hoping his version of ‘Suspiria’ doesn’t get watered down from the original in any way. It would be nice to see him try his hand at an original, horror story, but there are worse remake offenses than David Gordon Green remaking classic Argento. Argento can’t even make classic Argento any more.
A 2010 shooting date is scheduled.
