‘Wolfman’ Pushed Back… AGAIN!
Well, here it is, folks. Universal’s big-budget remake of ‘Wolfman’ is one step closer to never being seen by human eyes. Slated for a release in November, it is being reported that it has once again been pushed back for a release on February 12th, 2010. This will make the film’s release just short of four years after the announcement was made by Universal that a remake was in the works with Benicio Del Toro in the lead role.
Director Joe Johnston, taking over the spot left by Mark Romanek, shot the film from March to June of 2008, and, from there, it has been one moved back date after another. It was originally slated to drop on February 13th, 2009, but was pushed to April 3rd. It was then moved to the November 6th spot to give Universal more time to market it, something they haven’t even begun to do. Re-shoots in May and the special effects by Rick Baker could have something to do with this latest decision to move the film again, but Universal hasn’t officially announced anything yet.
I do know when it was first announced, and it was scheduled for release in 2009, it was near the top of a lot of people’s “must see” lists. Of course, these endless shifts in the release date are killing the film’s chances of generating much buzz. Time will only tell if the film actually makes it’s February 2010 slot.
