Will Smith Boards ‘City That Sailed’

Hollywood megastar Will Smith and his ‘I Am Legend’ director are coming together once again.  Francis Lawrence, who also directed the underrated ‘Constantine,’ has signed on to direct ‘City That Sailed,’ a project at 20th Century Fox that looks to be a potential starring vehicle for Big Willie Style.The film, written by David Levien and Brian Koppelman (‘Ocean’s Thirteen’), will star Smith as a father whose daughter live on opposite sides of the ocean. Their love is so strong that it causes New York City to split off and cross the Atlantic.  Smith is expected to co-produce the film with Overbrook Entertainment partner James Lassiter.

While the idea for this film is sweet, and while Lawrence hasn’t completely disappointed with his first, two feature films, ‘City That Sailed’ sounds like a logistical nightmare.  Unless there is some clever writing going on here, it sounds like this film has the potential to deliver nothing but huge, gaping plot holes.
