Saw Team’s ‘The Collector’ Get’s a Tattered Poster

‘The Collector’ is the new horror film hoping to get launched into a ‘Saw’-like franchise. It is directed by Marcus Dunstan, and co-written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writing team behind ‘Saw IV,’ ‘V,’ and ‘VI’ and the ‘Feast’ trilogy.

The film stars Josh Stewart as an ex-con who is desperate for cash.   He plans a heist at a rather large estate, unaware that the house has also been targeted by a vicious serial killer.   The killer has rigged the house with various, deadly traps. To steal a phrase, I’m sure there will be blood.

Today, we bring you the film’s poster, courtesy of Fangoria.

Not sure this newfangled fascination with making a poster look like it’s been around the block a few times.   With the creases and fake tears, it’s supposed to look like something out of the ’70s or ’80s.   What it really looks like is someone loved ‘Grindhouse’ and wants to recapture some of that sense.

Regardless, it’s an effective poster.   All you really need to show on a poster for this kind of film is a closeup shot of the killer.   In this instance, it looks like the hooded figure from ‘Timecrimes’ decided to finally step up and start being terrifying.

‘The Collector’ comes out on July 31st.
