Director
Sam Raimi will Direct Live-Action ‘World of Warcraft’
You may have already heard that Legendary Pictures have joined forces with video game publisher Blizzard Entertainment to develop their epically popular computer game ‘World of Warcraft’ into a live-action film but, you may not have heard that Sam Raimi has recently signed on to direct the feature… until now.
Warner Bros will also have a hand in the film as co-financier and distributor. That’s a good thing, as they’ve been one of the more successful of the major studios lately, putting out some of the best quality studio flicks in recent years. However, the A-list behind-the-scenes is bigger still, as producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) has also involved.
The “Warcraft” universe features an epic conflict between the Horde and the Alliance. The game has developed a global following since its launch in 1994 and shows no signs of slowing. Its most recent expansion, “Wrath of the Lich King,” sold more than 2.8 million copies in the first day of release and more than 4 million its first month.
“At its core, ‘Warcraft’ is a fantastic, action-packed story,” Raimi said in a statement.

Apparently, the plan is for Raimi to oversee development of the project while he makes ‘Spider-Man 4’ and then will begin production of ‘World of Warcraft’ once ‘SP4’ is completed. So, for all the WOW fans out there, keep the excitement in check… it’s gonna be a while still. I sure hope Raimi got some well-deserved rest and relaxation while making ‘Drag me to Hell’ because it appears he headed right back into his insanely busy and determined production schedule. Your hard work is appreciated, Sam!
