Reality TV Show Roundup!

About the worst thing you could subject yourself to.

Well summer is yet again approaching its end.   Yes I know we technically still have another month but August is short and it seems most kids have to go back mid-month anyway so I’m not too far off.   I was afforded a nice break though as the mindlessness of summer TV provided little to be desired.   But before I have to get back into the big swing of covering shows that are good, or should be canceled, or even ones that won’t last their first glorious season, I thought I would do a little coverage of this summer and look at what summer can offer its fair share of, reality TV.   Now no reality TV is actually good TV so I’ve decided to only cover shows in two categories, The Bad and The So Bad It’s Good.   Enjoy.

The Bad

1. So You Think You Can Dance-Now this show just completely befuddles me.   As in most reality contest shows they are striving to win something at the end.   But with this show I don’t see how becoming the winner will get them anything.   Do they get the title of best back up dancer? I really don’t see what they will end up getting out of this.   They can dance well as far as it seems but at least with American Idol they can release a CD, where the winner goes from here is anyone’s guess.   Hey, at least they got to see Katie Holmes perform a dance number for some ungodly and unknown reason.

2. Jon and Kate Plus 8-Jon and Kate Plus 8 needs to end!   With the constant media coverage and the fact that Jon is trying to win the crown for all around king douche bag, this how has just gotten sad.   I was never a fan from the beginning but now that they are getting a divorce and it’s all just falling apart it really seems completely despicable to even watch this family go through all of that.   Plus I am tired of seeing them on every magazine in the grocery store. I don’t really need to hear about Jon getting it on with a 22 year old party girl or how Kate is so brave because she said she’s going to take care of the kids while we also get to hear them make fun of her bikini body.

3. I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here-Now this show was an odd one to watch because NBC decided to show it four nights a week.   I luckily did catch the first episode of this show when it was actually entertaining because you had Heidi in Spencer revealing themselves to be as annoying and retarded as we all really knew them to be.   But sadly they left the show early enough and we weren’t left with much besides a couple of Baldwin’s, always good for your needed annoying factor, and Janice Dickenson who I’m tired seeing in every reality show known to man.   The one good thing I can say that came out of this was finally realizing that I like Lou Diamond Phillips.   I never liked him all that much back in his real heyday of acting, but seeing him on this actually showed me that he’s really a pretty down to earth dude and happy for the success he’s been able to have.

4. Dating in the Dark and Wipeout-I thought I’d put these two together because they are both on ABC and they are both about the dumbest things I’ve ever seen or heard of in my life.   First Dating in the Dark is about the dumbest concept for a dating show you could ever have.   Who the hell would agree to be a part of this?   How does talking to someone in the dark and then possibly touching them help anyone?   This just really seems like a really seedy beginning of a porno or something.   Now Wipeout has the great distinction of being another show that’s ripped off from a Japanese game show but may just be about the worst out of all of them.   The stunts are almost exactly the same and almost nobody ever wins but it’s truly the hosts that make this the most unbearable thing to ever watch.   Their grating comments on what goes on during the contests are really some of the worst puns and throw away lines in human existence.   Check it out if you want to see a completely unhilarious version of MXC.

Stay tuned for the So Bad It’s Good coming soon…
