Back in August of 2006, Chris Pine’s name was a long way from the Hollywood radar.   Sure, ‘Just My Luck’ had come out, and his performance alongside Lindsay Lohan turns a few heads, but it was anything but a breakout performance.   ‘Smokin’ Aces’ was months away, and something like ‘Star Trek,’ let alone the lead role in the film, was way out of Pine’s grasp.

In August of 2006, production began on an indie horror movie called ‘Carriers.’   It’s a viral pandemic type of horror movie, where I’m sure there will be lots of people spewing up blood and writhing in pain.   This movie, which finished production shortly after beginning, has sat on a shelf for the better part of three years now, waiting and hoping that one of its stars would have some kind of breakout.

That moment is here.   ‘Carriers’ is finally getting its release, and it is all due to Chris Pine’s newfound success in the world of cinema.   It is directed by Alex and David Pastor, and, today, we have the trailer for your viewing pleasures:

Check it out:

It doesn’t look like it offers much of anything new, and that PG-13 rating isn’t going to help its chances one bit.   However, that along with Pine’s presence might make it a financial boost for Paramount Vantage, whose marketing, distribution and production departments have just hit the one-year mark of being consolidated into the Paramount parent studio.
‘Carriers’ comes out on September 4th.
