WB Sets/Changes a Slew of Release Dates Including ‘Green Lantern’
Warner Brothers has, evidently, had their weekly release date meeting, and there have been a number of announcements and changes. For starters, ‘Green Lantern’ has been pushed back six months from December 17th, 2010 to June 17th, 2011.
This comes just one day after news broke that Bradley Cooper was the frontrunner for the lead role. This news isn’t surprising considering shooting hasn’t even begun yet. This will also put the DC-based ‘Green Lantern’ out a month after ‘Spider-Man 4’ and ‘Thor’ and a month before ‘Captain America.’
In other release date news, the Mel Gibson-starring, Martin Campbell-directed ‘Edge of Darkness’ has been set to release on January 29th, 2010. ‘A Couple of Dicks,’ directed by Kevin Smith and starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, has been switched from January 29th, 2010 to February 26th, 2010.
The third film in the ‘Harold & Kumar’ franchise, tentatively titled ‘A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,’ is set for release on November 5th, 2010. The sequel to ‘Happy Feet,’ ‘Happy Feet 2 in 3D,’ has been set for release on November 18th, 2011.
The next film by Zack Snyder, ‘Sucker Punch,’ has also had a release date change. It will be released over five months later than planned, as it changes its date from October 8th, 2010 to March 25th, 2011.
In case any of this is confusing, here’s a chronological list of these changes/announcements:
- 1/29/2010 – ‘Edge of Darkness’
- 2/26/2010 – ‘A Couple of Dicks’
- 11/15/2010 – ‘A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas’
- 3/25/2011 – ‘Sucker Punch’
- 6/17/2011 – ‘Green Lantern’
- 11/18/2011 – ‘Happy Feet 2 in 3D’
Of course, these dates could be switched up betwen now and these release dates. This is all very tentative.
