Adaptations
Director is “marked” for ‘Billy Smoke’ Adaptation
Warner Bros are developing an adaptation of the comic book ‘Billy Smoke’ published by Oni Press. The comic book series is written by B. Clay Moore with illustrations by Eric Kim. The project is being co-produced by Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road and Eric Gitter from Oni Press.
‘Billy Smoke’ follows a top-notch hit-man who nearly dies as a result of a job gone terribly wrong. After which, he determines that the only way for him to acquire redemption for what he’s done is to seek out and eliminate all the world’s assassins.
The film will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) while Matthew Fox (Speed Racer) is attached to star as the hit-man with a new found heart of gold. I like the idea of Fox being cast as an assassin and think he would do good by the role. I also like the choice of director, as ‘Traitor’ was an excellent and sadly under-appreciated movie.
