Tribeca 2009: Most Anticipated Films
So yesterday was Day 1 of the Tribeca Film Festival. Well, it wasn’t for me but it technically is Day 1 of the festival. The opening night film was Woody Allen’s newest offering, Whatever Works, but I unfortunately could not get tickets for it. So instead of telling you how amazing or terrible the film and after party were, I’m going to quickly tell you what films I am most looking forward to at the festival.
Black Dynamite
“You gonna wake up the rest of the bitches†= Awesome trailer and Scott LOVES this movie.
I remember hearing the legend of Cropsey when I was in Boy Scouts but I don’t remember it all that well. Can’t wait for some childhood reminiscence. Plus, the film looks pretty awesome.
Love The Beast
Not a big fan of cars but Eric Bana is awesome, at least according to the cast of Knocked Up. This is a very personal film and looks like a lot of fun.
Girlfriend Experience
Heard so many great things coming out of Sundance for this one. I actually do not like the trailer but I still am looking forward to seeing this.
The House of the Devil
I remember really enjoying Ti West’s last horror film, The Roost, and I can’t wait to see what he does with Cabin Fever 2. Hopefully this will be a great horror film to hold me over till then.
Hysterical Psycho
Dan Fogler + Low Budget Horror Comedy + Scott’s Awesome review = Must See
Midgets Vs. Mascots
I was looking forward to this since I read the first half of the title. Plus I really enjoyed that interview with Spartan Man, that you can view right HERE.
Moon
I love Sam Rockwell. I love Kevin Spacey’s voice. I love Moon?
My last Five Girlfriends
The trailer was great. Simple as that.
Newsmakers
I like the concept and I’m told the visual effects are great. I am also invited to their After Party, which is nice. Probably can’t make it but I will try. Will definitely see the film though.
Outrage
Loved seeing Kirby Dick expose the MPAA so I’m looking forward to seeing him expose some politicians.
Serious Moonlight
Fun premise and Cheryl Hines seemed enthusiastic about it when I met her at the Adrienne Shelly Foundation gala a few months back.
Transcendent Man
I never heard of Ray Kurzweil before but I am fascinated by concepts presented in the trailer alone.
Timer
I love the concept and the trailer was great. Haven’t heard much about it but I think it will be a real crowd pleaser.
These will not be the only films that I see at the festival. I plan to see as many as possible, while also squeezing in as many interviews as possible. I’ll try to review every movie the day I see it and I will try my best to do daily recaps every night. Can’t wait to start bringing some coverage to the site. I pick up my press badge in a few!
