‘I, Frankenstein’ Comic Getting Big Screen Adaptation
Apparently, on top of an f’ing hero, the world needs another, big-screen interpretation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Â This one is based on the comic series ‘I, Frankenstein,’ and will see the teaming of ‘Underworld: Rise of the Lycans’ director and near legend in the creature design business Patrick Tatopoulos, ‘Underworld’ co-creator Kevin Grevioux and Death Ray Films.
Written by Grevioux, the comic is set in a contemporary film noir setting and sees the monster doing battle with other classic movie monsters such as Dracula, the Invisible Man, and the Wolfman. Â The monster, long-since having developed intelligence and a way to deal with his anger, has become a private investigator. Â Dracula would be filling in the film noir role of a crime kingpin.
“It’s a Raymond Chandler-esque monster mash where the rogues don’t pack pistols, they’ve got claws and fangs,” said Ryan Rotten of Shock Till You Drop, who is co-developing with Death Ray Films.
Death Ray hopes the film will be the launching of a new franchise.
