SXSW Film Festival 2009: Day 1 recap
So yesterday was the official Day 1 of SXSW Film Festival and we kicked it off in fine fashion. Austin has been unseasonably cold, and mix that with rain its been pretty nasty around here but thats ok we are from St Louis, we should be used to that.
We didnt have a whole lot to do before our first screening at 6pm so we cruised around Austin, picked up our swag bags:
and ate some Wienerschnitzel pretzel bun chili dogs:
After that we went and caught a screening of ‘The 2 Bobs’ at the AAC screening room. I liked the film, but Jeremy hated it. Oh well, we then made our way to the red carpet for ‘ExTerminators’ but it was the weakest red carpet I have ever been on so we left as none of the major stars were even coming to it.
From there we went to get in the line for the opening night party and ran into none other than the super awesome Mark Duplass, who was further back in line than we were. If Mark Duplass is having to wait in line, there is something wrong in this world! Here we are hanging out outside:
During the party we ran into Chris Gore from Attack of the Show, we made a wager that he couldnt get a girls number..and he did. Bastard, but then I saw Jason Segel and immediately ran up like a little fanboy. He was hanging with Mark Duplass, so I got a picture with both of them:
After I stopped stalking them we headed off to the Alamo Drafthouse for the opening screening of ‘Ong Bak 2’ which was very disappointing in my opinion. We did get to try the amazing Alamo Milkshakes:
All in all this is probably the best opening day of a festival we have ever rocked, SXSW is amazing and I cant wait for the rest of the fest..stay tuned.
