Raimi Still Promising ‘Evil Dead 4’

Something was made mention last week between Scott and I about Bruce Campbell potentially coming back to do an ‘Evil Dead 4.’ Â  I say, “No friggin’ way is the guy ever going to put the chainsaw on again.” Â  Scott is a little more optimistic. Â  

If you ask Campbell, I’m right. Â  However, if you talk with Raimi, he’s dead set on proving Scott right. Â  While at SXSW promoting ‘Drag Me to Hell’, Raimi spoke with MTV News, and the subject of Campbell’s insistance that he was done with Ash came up.

“He can dream all he wants. He’s trying to get out of getting back in shape,† Raimi said. “I’m going to kick his butt in shape. I’m gonna say ‘get back in the chainsaw!’†

Talk with anyone who was disappointed in ‘Indiana Jones 4’ and you’ll see that there comes a time where filmmakers are making a sequel to a film just to make a sequel. Â  This is growing more and more evident as the case with ‘Evil Dead.’ Â  

Raimi can promise all he wants, he can’t do it without Campbell. Â  Likewise, Campbell can say he doesn’t want to do it all he wants, there will come a time when “Burn Notice” isn’t on TV any more, and he’ll need to make a house payment. Â  I just hope it doesn’t come to that to get ‘Evil Dead 4’ off the ground.
