Isaiah Washington, meet Lou Rawls

Isaiah Washington is attached to play Lou Rawls in a film about the life of “The Funkiest Man Alive.”   The film, tentatively titled ‘Through the Eyes of a Son,’ is  described as an uncensored take on the singer written by his son Lou Rawls Jr.

“It’s the untold side of a glamorous life,” said Adel Nur, Washington’s manager. “It’s like ‘Ray’; we knew about the beautiful music, but we didn’t know about the turmoil and chaos in (Ray Charles’) life.”

Says Robert Egan, co-writer and producer on the film: “”We’re showing the real story — what he was doing to his wife before walking out onstage and wooing the audience with a big smile.” He added that the film will move around in time to different periods of the singer’s life.

Hopefully, at some point, Rawls walks into a room full of people doing smack, and, for no discernible reason, Tim Meadows is there, looks up, and says, “Get out of here, Lou. Â  You don’t want none of this shit.” Â  A man can dream, can’t he?
