Universal to Make ‘Candy Land’
Universal Pictures has set writer Etan Cohen (‘Tropic Thunder’ and ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’) to write the screenplay for a feature film adaptation of the board game ‘Candy Land’. The film will be directed by Kevin Lima (‘Tarzan’ and ‘Enchanted’).
The studio made a deal last February with Hasbro, and this will be the first joint project between the two companies. Hasbro’s ‘G.I. Joe’ and ‘Transformer’ properties have film adaptations coming out this coming summer.
I’m assuming this will be an animated film, so Lima is a pretty good choice to direct it.
What do you think? Between this and Ridley Scott doing ‘Monopoly’, is the board game adaptation the new comic book adaptation? What other board games would you like to see get feature film adaptations? How long before DreamWorks Animation puts a ‘Hungry, Hungry Hippos’ project in development? Let us know by commenting below!
