‘Green Lantern’ may have a Director
As far as movies in “development Hell” go, DC Comics rules over this realm with an iron fist. Then again, who wants to be king of such an undesirable place? From Wonder Woman to The Flash, Justice League and even another Superman sequel… Warner Bros and DC Comics have plenty of material but haven’t made much progress.
Some fresh news today, however, as Warner Bros is apparently in negotiations with Martin Campbell to direct their live-action feature based on the Green lantern comic book series from DC Comics. Campbell’s last film was ‘Casino Royale’ and has also helmed ‘GoldenEye’ and two ‘Zorro’ films.
Warner Bros is, of course, keeping their fingers crossed that Christopher Nolan decides to go back for thirds on the Batman franchise, with a Superman sequel and Justice League on hiatus [again] the studio seems to be putting a renewed emphasis on the Green Lantern project.
The next DC Comics project due out is ‘Jonah Hex’ starring Josh Brolin, which is being directed by Marc Guggenheim (Horton Hears a Who), so naturally there is a lot riding on a successful Green Lantern.
No word either way on whether this project has any connection to the ‘SuperMax’ script that has been written, telling the Green Lantern story from the POV of the character being held in a super-high security prison for superheroes.
