Viola Davis Joins ‘Law Abiding Citizen’
Recent Oscar nominee, Viola Davis, has signed on for the psychological thriller ‘Law Abiding Citizen’. Â She will star alongside Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. Â The film is being directed by F. Gary Gray.
The story focuses on a man (Butler) who, 10 years after his wife and daughter are brutally murdered, returns to exact justice from the assistant district attorney (Foxx) who prosecuted the case against their killers. Â Sounds a bit like the forgotten classic ‘Seven Hours to Judgment’ starring Beau Bridges.
The announcement of Davis joining the cast was made by Overture Films’ CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett along with Mark Gill and Neil Sacker of The Film Department.
“What a fantastic cast,” said McGurk. “We are thrilled to partner with The Film Department on such an intriguing project and hope this is just the beginning of a long and successful relationship.”
The film also stars Bruce McGill, Leslie Bibb, Colm Meaney, and Regina Hall.
‘Law Abiding Citizen’ started shooting January 21st in Philadelphia and is set for a release sometime in 2010.
