Movies you need to see at Sundance: Part 1
Since I am heading down to Sundance Film Festival in 2 weeks I thought it would be important to prepare myself and try to figure out what movies were important for me to see. Here are the movies that I plan on watching and everyone else should too. Since there are so many movies that we should all see, I am going to break this down into a couple of lists. Here is part 1:
Black Dynamite
I had to start this list off with the movie I am most looking forward to and that is ‘Black Dynamite’. This is the newest exploitation blaxploitation to hit the scene and its shot 70’s style, which means its guaranteed to be sexy! Just wait to listen to our Michael Jai White interview that goes up this week! Its going to blow your mind..
Tyson
One of the most fascinating men on the face of the planet, next to me of course, will be the star of this documentary which will premier at Sundance. I will be attending a special screening that is followed up by a Q&A with Mr Tyson, after which we will interview the director James Toback.
500 Days of Summer
Although Zooey sort of gets on my nerves(Thanks Weeds, and M. Night), I am a big fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt so this movie shouldn’t disappoint. Here is the synopsis for you:
The film tells the story of the relationship between a woman, Summer (Deschanel), who doesn’t believe in true love and a man, Tom (Gordon-Levitt), described as a hopeless romantic, who falls in love with her. Over a span of 500 days, it is told from the perspective of Tom, who is influenced by pop music and breaks out into song throughout the movie.
Dare
This movie has intrigued me since I heard everyone talking about the short film it was based on. This could be this years ‘The Wackness’. The feature length version which premieres at Sundance stars Emmy Rossum in a story about “three very different teenagers discover that, even in the safe world of a suburban prep school, no one is who she or he appears to be.†IMDB also provides a different teaser synopsis: “The good girl, the outsider and the bad boy†¦like you’ve never seen them before.â€
Big Fan
A comedy starring Patton Oswalt as a hardcore New York Giants fan who gets beat up by his favorite player? Yes Please! The movie also has Kevin Corrigan, and Michael Rapaport! This movie is sure to please all of us, on that special level.
Stay tuned for part’s 2 and 3 of this list, because it couldn’t cram it all into one list!
