Decision on ‘Watchmen’ Release Date to Be Announced on January 20th

And it’s down to the judges. Â  20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. have agreed that a federal judge will decide whether Warner Bros. has the right to release the film this spring. Â  This means the trial will forgo a jury that could have resulted in the film being in limbo for even longer.

The judge’s decision will come on January 20th.

“We are gratified by the recognition of our rights in the judge’s order, which speaks for itself,” Fox said in a statement Tuesday.  

Warner Bros. said in a statement: “We will continue to pursue all of our legal options to defeat Fox’s meritless claims and remain confident that we will ultimately prevail.”

The more I hear about this case, the more pissed off I get at both sides. Â  I’m pissed at WB for not handling this up front when they knew full well that Fox wasn’t just going to sit by and watch. Â  I’m pissed at Fox for pretty much the same reason. Â  They could have nipped this early on, but they waited and watched to see how huge this film was going to get before stepping in. Â  I’m just pissed at the situation altogether.
