The lovable lab is tops at the box office to ring in 2009! Marley & Me brought in $24 million to hold on to the top spot at the box office for the second week in a row. Marley Just edged out Adam Sandler and his come to life ‘Bedtime Stories’ that settle for #2 with $20 million. Slumdog Millionaire, the most overlooked film this weekend, managed to cling on to the #10 spot with $4.7 million for the weekend.
Here is how the rest stacked up:
- Marley & Me                                  $24,050,000
- Bedtime Stories                             $20,317,000
- Curious Case of Benjamin Button  $18,400,000
- Valkyrie                                         $14,042,000
- Yes Man                                         $13,850,000

Don’t expect much change at the top with a horror flick “The Unborn” and a girly comedy “Bride Wars” both opening this weekend. There may be a push from Oscar contenders Revolutionary Road and Gran Torino that are expanding to theaters across the country this weekend. Go get’em Clint!
