Box Office Recap Jan.16-18: “Blart Guns Down Dirty Harry!”
Kevin James and his new film ‘Paul Blart:Mall Cop’ managed to out gun Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino’ for the number one spot at the box office this weekend. Mall Cop brought in close to 34 million passing Torino by over $11 million. The other opening films finished in 3rd through 5th….My Bloody Valentine, Notorious and Hotel for Dogs. Golden Globe winner Slumdog Millionaire re-entered the top ten with a surge to take the tenth spot with $5.9 million. Here is how the rest finished:

With Academy Awards nominations coming this week look for more from Defiance, Slumdog and Benjamin Button. We are also expecting a very good opening for the third installment of the Underworld series ‘Rise of the Lycans’.
