Golden Globes Noms/Critics Awards/Latest Oscar Predix

As the haloed awards season goes full throttle, here’s what coming up:

  • Brooke Shields, Elizabeth Banks, Terrence Howard and Rainn Wilson,  along with  HFPA President Jorge Camara,  will announce the nominations for “The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards” this Thursday morning, December 11, at The Beverly Hilton. The awards show will take place  at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 11 and air  on NBC.
  • The print critics’ awards are all out this week too – the New York Film Critics Circle (Wed.), Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. (Today!),  and the National Society of Film Critics. The Critics Choice Awards nominations, which are bestowed by broadcast and Web critics, were  only just released  today.
  • Tom O’Neil of The Gold Derby  says, “While snooping among the ranks of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. it became quite clear that “Slumdog Millionaire” is destined to win best drama picture next Jan. 11. Considering it recently won the National Board of Review and is the current fave of The Envelope’s Oscar pundits to bag the top Oscar, it seems poised to sweep most of the annual derby.” Here’s the latest charts for Best Picture, Actor, and Actress.
