The Movies you NEED to see: November 2008

By  |

We are going to start a new column here every month where we tell you the movies that you NEED to see for that month. We will give you a breakdown of each movie, the release date, and its rating. Why are we doing all this? Because we love our readers, the most informed readers on the net…

The first movie you need to see this month, which could be one of the best movies of the year, is of course…

Role Models – November 7th

‘Role Models’ stars Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd and looks to be pretty damn funny. I have had a man crush on Paul Rudd since ‘Anchorman’ and have loved everything he has done since so this shouldnt disappoint.

Repo! The Genetic Opera – November 7th(Limited)

If you miss this movie then you are dumb my friend..dumb. The movie is opening in very limited run’s and will be released on DVD in January 2009. Although this movie isnt getting a wide release, you will have a chance to see it in the major markets, just check out the website.

This is going to rock your freaking socks off, and here is the synopsis to prove it..

At the heart of the story is Shilo Wallace (Alexa Vega), a 17 year-old girl with a rare blood disease. She has been kept locked up and protected in her house, where she is guarded from the outside world by her father, Nathan Wallace (Anthony Head). While Shilo struggles with her wish to leave the house and experience the outside world, Nathan struggles with his secret job as the Repo Man, and more specifically, his next target, a woman named Blind Mag (Sarah Brightman). Blind Mag, an opera singer, was a friend of Nathan’s now-deceased wife, and is Shilo’s godmother.

The Largo family, consisting of GeneCo president Rotti (Paul Sorvino), his daughter Amber (Paris Hilton), and his two sons Luigi and Pavi (Bill Moseley and Nivek Ogre, respectively), have their own plans. Rotti is dying, and the three siblings bicker and fight about who is to take the role as head of GeneCo. But, disappointed with his own children, Rotti takes an interest in Shilo.

Quantum of Solace – November 14th

Bond is back and better than ever with Daniel Craig at the helm, and this is his second film as the secret agent. I think this movie could be as good if not better than ‘Casino Royale’ and really solidify Daniel Craig as one of the best Bonds since Sean Connery.

Twilight – November 21st

Now don’t take this as a movie that I am looking forward to, or really want to see for that matter but everyone and their kid will be talking about this damn flick so I am including it on the list of things you need to see. The ‘Twlight’ phenomenon is absolutely ridiculous and something we havent seen since ‘Harry Potter’ first came around. Make sure you go see this so you can take part in all of the converstations that will inevitably happen after its released. If you were to take The OC and throw in some Vampires I think you might have a good idea of what this thing is all about.

Australia – November 26th

Now I am typically not a guy who will get excited for an obvious chick flick, but I think Baz Luhrmann is going to turn in an epic movie. All of the pictures just look so freaking awesome that I cant help but get excited about this movie. Here is the synopsis so you can make a better decision on the movie. During World War II, Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman) is an English aristocrat who is left in control of a cattle station in Australia. She is assisted by an Australian drover (Hugh Jackman), in whom she becomes romantically interested. He helps to drive the cattle across the property as they are under the threat of nearby Darwin being bombed.

Milk – November 26rd

Gus Van Sant is back and this time with a movie that carries some pretty big names. After moving to San Francisco, the middle-aged New Yorker, Harvey Milk, became a Gay Rights activist and city politician. On his third attempt, he was elected to San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors in 1977, making him the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in the USA. The following year, both he and the city’s mayor, George Moscone, were shot to death by former city supervisor, Dan White, who blamed his former colleagues for denying White’s attempt to rescind his resignation from the board.

Sean Penn stars in this and no doubt will be in talks when The Oscars come around.

Transporter 3 – November 26th

Jason Statham is a pretty safe bet when it comes to action movies, and ‘The Transporter’ series thus far so I dont see this one falling short. You pretty much know what to expect from these movies, so go see it if you enjoy a fun, kick ass action movie starring one of my favorite dudes Jason Statham.

There you have it folks, these are the movies that you NEED to see in November of 2008 my friends. What movies did I leave off? What movies are you really looking forward to?
