Discuss: Which Will Be Box Office Champ? ‘Saw V’ or ‘High School Musical 3’?

Fans will be frothing at the mouth this weekend, but they’ll be standing in two, very distinct lines. Â  ‘High School Musical 3’ and ‘Saw V’ are sure to top the weekend box office. Â  Which one will beat out the other?

In a fistfight, I’d have to give the edge to Tobin Bell over Zac Efron and crew. Â  However, in terms of box office power, it’s anybody’s guess. Â  This will be the first ‘High School Musical’ film to get an initial release in theaters, so fans will be clamoring to see it on the big screen.

The first ‘Saw’ film opened with $18 million. Â  The next three sequels all opened with over $30 million, and tracking for the new one are saying it will do about the same.

I’m giving the edge to ‘High School Musical’, but only by a couple of million. Â  I see both of these films coming in at just over the $30 million mark.
