Remakes
Coen Brothers put a little swagger in their step…
Yes, this is a piece straight out of the rumor mill, but it does have some basis in credible media news, as the quote from Variety below may suggest. In a momentary lapse of my own character, I am going to fully empower this rumor because I REALLY want this to happen. Being the Coen Brothers geek that I am, I am always eagerly awaiting their next film. When I first caught wind of this project, I though… “How awesome!” Yep, I got all excited and silly stupid about a remake. Can you believe it?

“The book recounts the girl’s story,” Joel Coen told the newspaper. “In the John Wayne film, she was played older. We want her to be her real age – it’s her story!” — London’s Daily Mail newspaper
Apparently the Coen Brothers are currently playing with the script, but some of the more exciting rumors involve locations. Word going around on the Net is that the Coen Brothers may be looking to shoot the film in Northwest Arkansas and/or somewhere in the surrounding Ozarks region. This would be great for two reasons, well… three actually — it would be a great location for location’s sake, it would bring a great deal of notoriety and credibility to the region for future potential films, and most importantly, Northwest Arkansas is well within my limits of a road trip to have a chance of seeing the Coen Brothers at work. It’s surely a couple of years down the road, but it’s certainly one I’ll be keeping my ear to the railroad track for any signs of progress.
Of course, this also raises the question… Who will play Rooster Cogburn?
