Local Flavor: ‘Julius Petri’s Favorite Dish’
We are happy to have our first local indie filmmaker featured on We Are Movie Geeks. I have begun a local campaign to reach out to the indie filmmakers of the Greater St. Louis and surrounding areas in an attempt to do my part in promoting the art of cinema in the Midwest. Local St. Louis filmmaker Scott Thomas Smith has recently finished his first short film, which he describes as follows:
It would probably be labeled an “experimental” film by most, but to me I would call it maybe a philosophical film or a dialogue film. Not experimental. Anyway, it is called “Julius Petri’s Favorite Dish” and you can see it on my website here: http://www.theneonheart.com/cinema.html
Would you like to know a little more about the filmmaker? Good, read his mini-bio below:
I’m 24 years old, though I officially stopped aging at 21, and am a native St. Louisan, though I have spent some time in Chicago. I am into comics, movies, reading, movies, computers (and gaming), and writing. I mainly consider myself a writer/reader. I have written a novel, a full length screenplay, various work for a comic book, a few short stories, along with a million tiny pieces waiting to be put into context. Oh yeah. and I sometimes maintain a blog. All of my published work is available on my website The Neon Heart at http://www.theneonheart.com/Â for free. I am still looking for a publisher for my novel and I guess for someone maybe to pick up my movie script. As far as education goes, I really like Tarantino’s saying, “I didn’t go to film school, I went to films.”
I have posted Smith’s short film for your viewing. Watch it, consider it and feel free to honestly let us and Scott know what you think of it. And, this is also an open invitation to any other local filmmakers to submit their films for consideration to be features on We Are Movie Geeks…
