Errol Morris fights cancer with ‘Survivors’
I am really into Errol Morris and his brilliant style of documentary filmmaking. While his early fils dealt more with the quirky nuances of being human, his films of late have taken on a much more socially significant purpose and appeal. From ‘Mr. Death’ to ‘The Fog of War’ to ‘Standard Operating Procedure’… Morris has been able to tell intelligent and though-provoking stories about current topics and issues while maintaining a level of entertainment that is satisfying without losing any of the content’s dignity. Morris’ most recent endeavor is this 8-minute documentary short that employs his trademark style of interviewing his subjects in a simple yet mesmerizing fashion. ‘Survivors’ focuses on those have have had and/or currently are struggling with cancer and those who are close to them, recalling their experiences and emotions. ‘Survivors’ is Morris’ addition to the new Stand Up to Cancer campaign to fight this terrible disease. The 8-minute video is available to download for free as an iTunes podcast.
