DVD Releases for 9/16
A new column for you all. A list of the top DVD picks for the week! Check out the titles below along with a link to buy along with a synopsis for you. Kind of a light week, but the blockbusters should start rolling out in the not to distant future like, Iron Man (Ultimate 2-Disc Edition) [Blu-ray], is in a couple weeks, enjoy!
Pushing Daisies: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] – Pushing Daisies is a fantastic show that is about as close as a TV show can get to feeling like a movie, this side of LOST. If you are a fan of Tim Burton and that odd sense of humor this show will be right up your ally and this is a perfect way to catch up before the new season starts in October.
Snow Angels – (The Sleeper of the Week) – Snow Angels is a drama from David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) that revolves around the lives of a couple of ex’s and what happens when their daughter goes missing. Sam Rockwell and Kate Beckinsale star and this will be one to check out this Tuesday.
Speed Racer [Blu-ray] – (Pick of the Week) – Speed Racer was a winner, and was born to be seen on Blu! I can not wait to see this in beautiful 1080p in all of its glory. This is a 2-Disc set, plus a digital copy to boot. For fans it is a must buy, and for those that stayed away for no reason, check out one of the most entertaining films of the summer!
The Mist [Blu-ray] – The Mist was one of the better films of 07 and I can’t wait to finally get to see the B&W version of the film, have been holding out for this release, and see the film the way Darabont intended. A great little mind f*** of a movie that is about the monsters inside of people as much as it is about the monsters in The Mist.
Made of Honor – The Patrick Dempsey chick flick was enjoyed by the females in my life that saw it, and I will admit that the preview didn’t look half bad. Anyways, I will be watching this film in the not to distant future I am sure and this will probably be the next “date night” movie you get from the video store.
Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy [Blu-ray] – Here is your chance to get this recent blockbuster trilogy all together and at a bit of a discounted rate. I would pick this up but I got At Worlds End already in HD and I am waiting for those other two to go on a good sale. Anyways, the 2nd film is considered reference quality for A/V and they are some really fun films anyways. Check it out.
