Universal flirting with Jordan’s Wheel of Time fans
Universal Pictures has just purchased the film rights to Robert Jordan’s massively popular ‘Wheel of Time’ series of fantasy books. Jordan, who dies in 2007 at the age of 58, created a huge following with these novels and will likely carry over to the films. The books have sold $44 million copies world-wide and several related games have been developed from the series. The franchise will begin with the first book in the series titled, ‘The Eye of the World.’
Now, I have not read any of these books and do not claim to be any kind of expert… however, I have several friends who are HUGE fans, one of which is likely to go nuts once he reads this. The truly simple, most absolute basic and watered-down plot goes like this, courtesy of Variety who broke this story:
[The Wheel of Time” follows, among its dozens of characters, Rand al’Thor, the latest incarnation of a force for good called “The Dragon.” Rand is born to fight an evil character called Shai’tan.] — Variety.com
