Its no myth … Peter Berg will reboot ‘Hercules’

Director Peter Berg (Very Bad Things) is becoming something of a hot commodity for studios, finding himself in rather high demand. The “former” actor turned director first got his “serious” stripes with the critically acclaimed ‘The Kingom’ after directing ‘The Rundown’ and ‘Friday Night Lights’. He most recently made headlines with the moderately successful mostly applauded superhero movie ‘Hancock’.

We’ve already heard about his upcoming project to once again reboot ‘Dune’… but now he’s also been attached to reboot the Hercules franchise. Variety reports Berg will produce and direct ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ for Universal Pictures. Ryan Condal will write the script based on a comic book mini-series by Steve Moore. No stars have been attached yet, as its not even written, but I wouldn’t count on seeing either Lou Ferrigno or Kevin Sorbo mentioned in any casting calls. The producers say they were drawn to this project for its character driven story. Great! Sounds like a smart move, but will it work?
