Top 10 movies to look forward to this Fall …
We are in the full swing of the Summer Blockbusters, so what better time than now to look forward to what we will see this fall …
Here is the Movie Geeks top 10 movies to look forward to after summer is over. In order of release date.
‘Burn After Reading‘ – September 12
You are getting Brad Pitt and George Clooney back together and they aren’t robbing anyone. “A disk containing the memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to sell it.”
‘Blindness‘ – September 19th
The trailer for this movie looks crazy, and come on. Wouldn’t you want to be the only one that could see? You would have all the power then. Oh but remember “with great power comes great responsibility”
“A city is ravaged by an epidemic of instant “white blindness”. Those first afflicted are quarantined by the authorities in an abandoned mental hospital where the newly created “society of the blind” quickly breaks down. Criminals and the physically powerful prey upon the weak, hording the meager food rations and committing horrific acts. There is however one eyewitness to the nightmare. A woman whose sight is unaffected by the plague follows her afflicted husband to quarantine. There, keeping her sight a secret, she guides seven strangers who have become, in essence, a family. She leads them out of quarantine and onto the ravaged streets of the city, which has seen all vestiges of civilization crumble. Their voyage is fraught with danger, yet their survival and ultimate redemption reflect the tenacity and depth of the human spirit.”
‘Choke‘ – September 26th
You absolutely cannot go wrong with Chuck Palahniuk … ever. Throw in Sam Rockwell..movie gold.
“Victor Mancini is a medical-school dropout who has devised an ingenious scam to pay elder care for his Alzheimer’s-afflicted mother: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be “saved” by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor’s life, go on to send checks to support him. When he’s not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park.”
‘W‘ – October 17th
I cant help but anticipate a movie that makes fun of one of the biggest running jokes in America … not to mention anyone that can make Elizabeth Banks that un-sexy … must see.
“A chronicle on the life and presidency of George W. Bush”
‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ – October 31st
Releasing a Kevin Smith movie is guaranteed to get make any movie geek’s list..unless of course you aren’t a fan of cinema. Plus check out that kick ass tribute to ‘Dawn of the Dead’ on those hockey jersey’s.
“Lifelong platonic friends Zack (Rogen) and Miri (Banks) look to solve their respective cash-flow problems by making an adult film together. As the cameras roll, however, the duo begin to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.”
‘Quantum of Solace’ – November 7th
New Bond movie(The 22nd) with my favorite Bond(Daniel Craig) since Sean Connery..I am super stoked for this movie.
“The film continues “an hour after” Casino Royale’s conclusion, when Mr. White is shot and captured by Bond at Lake Como. Bond is then involved in a car chase in Siena, Italy. The official synopsis shows that White reveals to Bond and M that his organisation (called Quantum) has agents in Her Majesty’s Government and the Central Intelligence Agency. Forensic evidence of an MI6 traitor leads Bond to Haiti, where he meets Camille, who then helps him find Dominic Greene, a ruthless businessman and chairman of Green Planet, the legitimate cover for Quantum.“
‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ – November 21st
I hate enjoying these movies so much..but I cant help it. Its my inner child that enjoys fantasy and the thought that people somewhere can ride around on “magical” brooms.
“As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers an old book marked mysteriously “This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince” and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past.”
‘Transporter 3′ – November 26th
Jason Statham is the best action hero that isn’t name Chan or Li, and didn’t hit the big time in the 80’s. The third installment should be just as good as the two previous, so we will wait and see.
No synopsis yet, but watch the trailer and you will get an idea …
‘Defiance’ – December 12th
Daniel Craig’s second movie on the Movie Geek 10 … but that’s fine with me. You will have 2 superhero’s on tap here with Daniel Craig (Bond … not really a superhero?) and Liev Schreiber (Sabertooth) … and the other guy from Jumper (Jamie Bell).
“Three Jewish brothers (Craig, Schreiber and Bell) escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger.”
‘The Spirit’ – December 25th
Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansen in the same movie? Almost as nice as Scarlett Jo and Natalie Portman in the same movie (‘The Other Boleyn Girl’). Toss Samuel L Jackson in the mix (a lot of comic book stuff lately), and you will have a great Frank Miller flick.
“Down these mean streets a man must come. A hero born, murdered, and born again. When a Rookie cop named Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face who has other plans. He’s going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this cold hearted killer from the city’s rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader.”
So there you have it boys and girls … yes there are a TON of other great movies coming out … but you can do that leg work yourself. These are the MOVIE GEEK top 10 movies to look forward to in the fall/winter. Enjoy. So what movies are you looking forward to that I didn’t put on the list?
Also sorry to those of you hoping I would put ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2’ on the list … we are going to let Charles cover that one special.
