No Eli Roth for ‘Hostel 3’
I’m getting sick of these movies now!
Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that a third installment in the “Hostel” franchise is currently in the works. Eli Roth, who wrote and directed the first two films, will not return. There is also no word on whether the new movie will appear in theaters or go straight to DVD. But it will likely be the latter.
The original “Hostel,” which hit theaters in 2006, earned over $80 million on a $4.8 million budget. The sequel, which was released during the summer of the following year, took in only $35 million on a $10.2 million budget. Even though the movie was still an earner, it fell below expectations.
The films revolve around American students/backpackers who get lured to a demented underground torture club, where wealthy businessman pay good money to mutilate and eventually murder their victims.
