News from ‘Angels & Demons’ Set …
The Rome Diocese has banned the makers of the DaVinci Code prequel “Angels & Demons” from filming in two churches in the Italian capital. Brian Graizer and Ron Howard had asked to film in two churches, Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria, two architectural jewels in the heart of Rome that include paintings by Caravaggio, sculptures by Bernini and a chapel designed by Raphael.
The Catholic leaders called for a boycott of the first film , Dan Brown’s “The DaVinci Code” …so they should have expected some resistance filming in their “backyard” so to speak. I guess Ritchie Cunningham and Forest Gump have pissed off the Pope! I have some advice for you guys….being married to an Italian Catholic and movie geek by association (Toni) ..two words…..Collection Plate! You need to up the ante. The church responds better to donations than requests. You have to pay to play Mr Hanks.
