In the Works
‘Green Lantern’ is still on course …
Even though I am a die-hard Marvel Comics fan, I don’t dismiss the DC Comics universe as a whole. While I’m really not much of a Superman fan, one of the DC projects I’ve been keeping tabs on is the Green Lantern adaptation. Granted, the Green Lantern universe and storyline are far beyond the dabbling I’ve had in the series, but there are vast numbers of loyal Lantern fans out there … and I’m sure they’re itching for a movie.
There have been lots of rumors and stories about this movie being developed, from the earlier version titled SuperMax, with Hal Jordan being imprisoned, to a comedic version involving Jack Black. With the ups and downs of the WGA and SAG strikes and the state of the economy, many feared that the death of the Justice League movie meant the death of Green Lantern and others like Wonder Woman. As it turns out, Green Lantern is still very close to being green-lit …
Thanks to Devin Feraci from Chud.com, who managed to speak with Green Lantern producer Donald De Line about the state of the project. He states that “it’ll be the origin story of Hal Jordan, with all the heroics and action inherent with that character.” The producer is awaiting the first draft of the screenplay from writer Greg Berlanti.
