Rainn Wilson jams as ‘The Rocker’

I have to confess that I’ve had the wild dream of being a drummer since sometime in high school. I even, embarrassingly so, attempted to teach myself at one point in order to be in a friend’s band … alas, I quickly learned the hard way that I have ZERO musical talent. So, I find the new film The Rocker to be especially interesting. Directed by Peter Cattaneo, the film stars Rainn Wilson as a drummer that never was, but is given a second chance to fulfill his dream. Wilson plays Robert “Fish” Fishman, who was the drummer for a fictional 80’s hair band called Vesuvius. That is, until he’s given the boot by his own band-mates. Years later, “Fish” hears that his nephew’s high school rock band needs a drummer and he sees it as his destiny to return to fame. The film also stars Christina Applegate, Josh Gad and Emma Stone.

Release date is August 1, 2008.
