MGM ponders a return to ‘Red Dawn’ …
Here’s the ultimate question … is there any hope for a Hollywood that is sinking further into a hole of its own making? It seems as though the endless pit of remakes just keeps getting deeper and darker.
During The Hollywood Reporter’s coverage of the Cannes Film Festival, they uncovered that MGM is considering a remake of the 1984 John Milius film Red Dawn, which chronicles the lives of a group of young American rebels as they fight to survive a Soviet invasion of the United States.
I am growing increasingly detached to the Hollywood movie machine, hungering more and more for original and creative stories for the big screen. In some subconscious way, I think its even had some influence on my recent “burst” of inspiration in my own script-writing. Hollywood, more than ever, is resembling a factory that mass produces new generations of old products, seeking to cash in on “safe” bets … but, how long will this prevail?
