Technical Difficulties for ‘Wild Things’
As it turns out, the biggest hold up on Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are is related to production rather than story or plot. Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are racking their brains, trying to determine whether to reshoot the movie or not, and if so … how much of it needs to be reshot. The Issue relates to the special effects. Instead of creating the Wild Things completely from CGI, the film-makers approached the process as such … film the Wild Things as people in big elaborate suits made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop and then animate the Wild Things’ faces onto their heads. As awkward as it sounds, apparently it has been more challenging than they thought. Then again, who knows what the fate will be. Rumors are still swirling that the studio execs are disappointed with the performance given by Max Records, who plays the boy who is crowned king of the Wild Things, and there’s also that little infamous rumor still adrift about the execs not being happy with Jonze’s take on the film … stating its “too weird and scary.” It may be looking like the film could get tabled, or worse yet … they may throw Jonze and his script out all together. Pity, we let these suits decide what we want to see …
