Apparently, Albert Pyun and Lee Horsley are teaming up to create the next chapter to The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982). Pyun directed the original and Horsley starred in the original as Prince Talon.
The project is currently titled Tale of an Ancient Empire, and while the director suggests it is less of a sequel than originally planned, it follows a mercenary general and will offer much in the way of scantly clad sexy women, demons, monsters, vampires and plenty of nudity and gore. How can you go wrong?
As if this all wasn’t enough to satisfy those irresistible late-night cravings for exploitation fantasy films, Tale of an Ancient Empire will also star Christopher Lambert (Highlander) and Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) as the general’s two sons.
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling this movie should plan on relishing a larger compensation of b-movie fan love than actual hard currency. Destined for direct-to-DVD, we’ll wait and see if its a welcome addition to an 80’s classic … or just more cannon fodder for the discerning movie geek.
