McConaughey toiling over gig as ‘Magnum P.I.’

To be, or not to be … Magnum P.I. That is the question … for Matthew McConaughey? After spending years in what seemed to be development Hell and what was sure to be one of many “speculated remakes” from Hollywood, it appears that Magnum P.I. is still holding on for dear life. The current script, by writer-director Rawson Marshall  Thurber (Dodgeball), is apparently awaiting a final answer from female heart-throb Matthew McConaughey regarding whether or not he intends to accept the offer to dawn the Hawaiian shirt. Sure seems to fit better than Nicolas Cage, who was once rumored to have been toying with the idea of adding Magnum to his vast collection of characters suspended in fluid-filled specimen jars. Nic, its OK if you don’t play EVERY role out there. I mean, really … you actually thought you’d make a good Superman?
