The original Death Race 2000 starred Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine, offered lots of low-budget 70’s b-movie fun, violence, action and futuristic elements … hokey by today’s standards. Due out in theatres on September 26, 2008 is the remake by Paul W.S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil) offering, well … more of the same, but with a bigger budget and less hokey futuristic special effects, hopefully. One thing the film does have going for it is Jason Statham … always fun to watch kick other peoples butts. With the success of The Transporter and Crank, will Death race also reap the Statham benefits?
