Peter Berg to direct Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’

By  |
Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’ Producer Kevin Misher (The Scorpion King, Public Enemies) has finally obtained the rights from the Herbert estate and has now tapped Peter Berg (Very Bad Things, The Kingdom) to direct this adaptation of the classic science-fiction masterpiece. Why am I not calling this a remake? Well, as much as I enjoyed the David Lynch adaptation of Dune, it really wasn’t known for its loyal following of the book. As for the television mini-series … its a mini-series. Whether we enjoyed that or not, its not the same.

So, I’m actually looking  forward to this film being made and, of all the directors that could have been chosen, I’m OK with Peter Berg. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from him so far. We shouldn’t get our hopes up too soon though. They don’t even have a script yet. Misher is shopping for writers as we speak.
