New ‘Speed Racer’ trailer has me changing my tune …

I must admit that I never was a fan of the Speed Racer phenomenon as a kid and I found myself rather uninterested in the movie adaptation when I first heard of it. Furthermore, I was even less interested in the Wachowski brothers’ new project after seeing the first trailer. It struck me as a ridiculously over-blown special-effects-driven experiment with no hope for success. However, this all changed once I saw the new trailer for Speed Racer in front of Drillbit Taylor. So, here I am … eating my words. I now see Speed Racer as a potentially well-made, highly enjoyable and perhaps, shall I say it, even ground-breaking movie. The Wachowski brothers are obviously no strangers to taking huge chances with massively new and creative special effects, but I think they may just pull this one off after all.
