Multi-talented musician and actor Mos Def (Be Kind, Rewind) will be playing the legendary father of rock & roll Chuck Berry in the film Cadillac Records. The film is being bank-rolled by Sony BMG and is being directed by Darnell Martin (Law & Order, ER, Oz), who is well-versed in helming dramatic television, but has only three feature film credits as a director, including I Like it Like That (1994) and Prison Song (2001). The film will take place in 1950’s Chicago and revolves around the lives of Chess Records founder Leonard Chess, played by Adrien Brody (The Jacket), and his label’s artists including Muddy Waters, Etta James and Howlin’ Wolf.
