Lionel Mark Smith Veteren actor Lionel Mark Smith died of cancer on February 13, 2008. Smith was a regular character actor on many David Mamet films, with an acting career spanning 30 years and appearing in a total of 22 motion pictures and 22 television series.

Smith was cast in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia (1999) and appeared in six Mamet films including Edmond (2005), Spartan (2004), State and Main (2000), The Spanish Prisoner (1997), Homicide (1991), and Things Change (1988). I have seen all of these films and can say he has done well.
