‘Dark Oz’ may get screen treatment, in triplicate

It seems we may get more Oz in the near future. The Dark OZÂ comic book series by Ralph Griffith and Stuart Kerr delves deeper into the world of Oz, loosely based on the many other books set in this fantastic realm by L. Frank Baum that many people haven’t read, or even heard of. The Wizard of Oz is clearly the most well-known, due to the classic MGM film that adapted that book.
The potential project is being taken on by Pras Michel (musician, Fugees) who has also recently produced the upcoming sci-fi/action film The Mutant Chronicles. Michel has optioned the film and TV rights and intends to produce the comics into a cinematic trilogy, with Aaron Denenberg (editor, Kill Bill, Oceans Twelve) adapting the screenplay, but also plans to star as the Scarecrow character. |
